Start the Sun Studio installer by typing: (must be root)
SPARC:
# cd SunStudio_11/SPARC/

x86/x64:

If you use a HTTP proxy server to access the Internet, set the
ALL_PROXY environment variable to your proxy settings so that you can
use the Update Notification feature of the Sun Studio 11 software.

NetBeans[tm] IDE 5.0

The NetBeans IDE is an open-source tool that supports the development of
applications for the J2EE 1.4 Platform and deployment to a variety of
servers including the Sun Java System Application Server, WebLogic Server,
JBoss Application Server, and Tomcat. The distribution, included on this DVD,
contains both the NetBeans IDE and the Sun Java System Application Server
8.2 Platform Edition.
Newer releases of NetBeans software, including support for the latest Java Platform
Enterprise Edition specification, are available at:

Sun Java[tm] Studio Creator 2 Update 1

The Sun Java Studio Creator software combines the power of
100% Java standards with simplified visual development techniques
to give developers the most effective way to build web tier applications.

IMPORTANT: The Sun Java Studio Creator software is designed to be installed
per-user instead of being available system-wide. The result of running the
install script, install.sh, depends on your userid, as described below.
Start the Sun Java Studio Creator installer by typing: (for both SPARC
and x86 platforms)
% cd JS_Creator_2_Update_1
% ./install.sh
Depending on your userid, running the install script produces the
following results:
a. root
The install script does not install the product, but instead copies
the Sun Java Studio Creator installer onto the target disk, making the
Sun Java Studio Creator installer available to non-root users
to install their own copy.
The installer is accessible via the global Sun Java Desktop System menu,
specifically:
Applications -> Programming -> Java Studio Creator 2 Update 1 Installer
The installer can also be accessed via the command line:
% /var/creator/Creator2u1Install.sh
b. non-root user
The Sun Java Studio Creator software is installed in the user's
home directory, and can be launched as follows:
- Desktop:
Java Studio Creator 2 Update 1 desktop icon
- Command line:
% $HOME/sun/Creator2_1/bin/creator

The Sun Java Studio Enterprise software is the premier development tool for
building applications for the Sun Java Enterprise System and includes complete
J2EE 1.4 support, Unified Modeling Language (UML) features, and integrated
code-aware developer collaboration functionality.
